Self-guided cemetery tours

OK, so it's a little chlly to take the tour right now, but new brochures now available at the Chariton Cemetery and the Chamber of Commerce office will allow visitors to make self-guided circuits of some of the most interesting gravesites (and tombstones) located there.

The brochures are a project of the Chariton Historic Preservation Commission (funded by a South Central Community Foundation grant) and were designed by Martin Buck, a commission member. In some cases, photos from this blog were used.

The featured graves are those of some of the people honored during several of the commission's annual fall interpretive cemetery tours.

At the cemetery, the brochures are located in weather-proof boxes in front of the "rules" board just inside the cemetery gate and just north of the parking area in the southwest corner of the cemetery. So stop in and take the tour!
